Tomorrow is Sweet Pea Day, April 11th, and I will
be bringing my best friend, another friend, my
daughter and her roommate to Summers Past to
celebrate my birthday and four years as a cancer
survivor.
I used to bring my children here when they were
small, and we enjoyed it immensely. This will
be my best friend’s first time out here and I
hope it will be a merry day for all of us and
for everyone we see tomorrow. God Bless you all!

I can only dream of summer as I sit snuggy-bundled tight in Minnesnowta Winter. This, one of those lucky years we dip sub-zero several days in a row, only to come up for air when 5 more inches of snow fall! So, happening upon your astonishing farm, gardens, herb ‘n pansey filled pages, takes me back to Nana’s cottage out on the lake, filled with bundled herbs and bubbling pots of the most wonderful food. I’ll collect memories here, ideas from your whimsies and recipes as you share ‘em with us. I will look forward to Summer in Minnesota when yes, even Pansies glance up & smile for a brief season. Here, a walk through the woods on snowshoes in the forests of the gunflint or on paths in the Aboreatum in Chaska gives way to fancies of faieries amongst fern fronds or fluttering in intricate snowfall. A garden can be found in every nook & cranny if you only stop to look. I’m glad I stopped in here today! I will visit often; yours is a place of the heart & I’ve found a treasure! *m

Thank you for sharing this most beautiful farm with me. Having lived in California for almost 40 years I have visited the parks, the Zoos, and the expensive Play Arena’s, I now live in Michigan but must tell you that no other place has filled my heart and my memory more than your farm. I have taken many classes in your barn…..including the vinegar and wreath making classes. And I have picked the glorious sweet peas when they were in bloom. Nothing makes me as happy as when I receive another E Mail regarding your Classes and your farm. I love your farm. If I had the opportunity, I would travel from Michigan to California for another visit–to see the flowers, the animals and the wonderful craft facilities you have.

Thank you again for the memories I made while visiting your farm with my mother and sisters.

Summers Past Farms is one of my favorite places to rest, read, and write. I love to sit in the patio and sketch flowers and herb borders, write in my journal, relax and read, and, best of all, take photographs. I love to bring out-of-town guests to Summers Past Farms for coffee and photography (and to shop in the barn). My friends and I also love to meet to chat over Saturday morning coffee and always end up buying plants for our gardens in the nursery.

The nursery is where I buy most of the flowers for my garden because, as I live in Pine Valley, the nursery plants here are hardier and handle frost better than those bought further westward. I love the variety of lavender plants especially! Simply lovely.
